“Life went past you in a flash, like a bus on a rainy night in Ness. You had to be sure it saw you and stopped to let you on, otherwise it was gone without you, and you would be left with a miserable walk home in the wind and the wet.”
It’s always nice to shoot some street photography after the rain. Buildings glitter, streets reflect, colorful umbrellas float, everything seems calmer.
Run, kid, run!
Chilling in the alley.

A gift for my dearest, and a bag for my love.
“Quiet is peace. Tranquility. Quiet is turning down the volume knob on life. Silence is pushing the off button. Shutting it down. All of it. - Amir”
Photogenic cat, but not our Socrates. Weather is getting hotter, and our furball has been shedding fur, and my runny nose was killing me.
“Mountain in my heart.”
That’s how relaxed I feel when I’m in the (crowd-less) mountain.
“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.”
“Dreich - Wet, dull, gloomy, dismal, dreary or any combination of these. Scottish weather at its most miserable.“
That word could easily be used to describe Taipei weather too. So when there’s golden sunset for a few days consecutively, it signifies a change of season soon.
Sunset-glazed glass building, like makeup palette.
“The evening’s the best part of the day. You’ve done your day’s work. Now you can put your feet up and enjoy it.”
“Life isn’t like in the movies. Life... is much harder.”
My biking route to work (or used to be).
Staring at Yangmingshan (陽明山) from afar always gives a sense of calmness.
More arches, and look, a plane! What a rare sight nowadays.
Like Eiffel Tower, Tokyo Tower, or snow-capped Mount Fuji, Taipei 101 is one of those edifices where I would not get tired looking at it. I spent too much time snapping pictures of the bridges I missed the sunset-glazed 101.
“Books are mirrors: you only see in them what you already have inside you.”
I know, dear. The heat and humidity is making me sleepy too.
P/S: Get well soon, Hong Kong!
“Reading is an intimate ritual, that a book is a mirror that offers us only what we already carry inside us, that when we read, we do it with all our heart and mind, and great readers are becoming more scarce by the day.”
I’m not calling this a “proj3ct”. I think it’s a taboo to a weak-willed person like me. If I set a huge goal like “365 daily snaps”, you’ll find cobweb here soon, way before it even takes off.
At first, borders close. Then everyone starts working from home. I tell myself, it’s fine, I can still find something interesting to do in my own backyard. Before I know it, I’m stuck in a rut. The more I procrastinate, the stronger this invisible force ties me down .
Confined in a small box, the rut slowly becomes your best friend.
The thing with motivation is, it’s just like an engine. Abandoned for a long time, it becomes rusty and the rhythm is lost. Gotta keep that engine moving.
Unleashed
Unlock the door, step out, and shoot away.
May this be a daily thing. Mundane, monotonous, uneventful. Doesn’t matter. I’d love to be able to go hiking and shooting grand vistas all the time. But for now, I shall relax and enjoy the mundaneness.
